Wide Tier

Dark energy, via weak lensing and galaxy clustering

What this is

Single-band imaging over the largest area. Breadth over depth: the sheer number of galaxies is what the lensing measurement needs.

Four nested tiers over more than a tenth of the sky. Wide tiers supply the galaxy shapes weak lensing needs; deep tiers calibrate them and reach the earliest galaxies.

Bands

Optical elements this tier observes through

F1581.577 µmH-band; a core survey filter.
